Elaan was founded in 2004 as part of an endeavor to encourage dialogue on the issues of child sexual abuse (CSA) and incest. It functioned as a youth group for 3 years before being registered as an NGO on June 7th 2007 under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act of 1961.
Some of the issues that Elaan is addressing, and hopes to incorporate in future projects are –
- Parents Against Abuse (parent activism body)
- Education (rural and urban)
- Healing, Dealing and Surviving
- Juvenile Justice *
- LACSA (Law against Child Sexual Abuse) *
- Prostitution (adult sex workers, their rights and the protection of their children; also child prostitutes) *
- Human and Child trafficking *
- Children with special needs
- LGBT awareness and activism (sexual minorities)
- Trauma handling and disaster management
- Cyber crime and internet laws*
- Sex education and personal safety training
- Self esteem and communication for young adults
- Substance abuse and other addictions
- HIV/AIDS awareness and treatment (especially for underprivileged families with children)
- Intervention and support for high risk/vulnerable children

this thematic CSA is a “world wide problem”, same in rich high industrialized and in countries which are progressing. So generally an important thematic Elaan want give it’s focus.
But…
Why is your domain http://www.elaan.org for sales? There is no website behind as you offer it. Is Elaan “dead” and no more active? – It looks like that…

I have a question a friend of mines daughter was touched by a boy in her school and the daughter told, my friend talked to the principal of the school and the principal told her that there was nothing that she could do because the boy was special(ed) so my friend called the school board and asked what they could do for her and the secutary of the school board said that the person she had to talk to was to busy to talk to her and that she would call her back when she had time my friend waited a day or two and the school board finally called her back they said they would have to look at the boys records and that was it well my friend called me today and told me that she was going to have to take her daugther out of the school can you please help us out the boy touched her in a bad way I wounder how many other girls he has touched and they have not came and told we really need your help. Thank you,
